Effective spring 2024 forward, MAUI programming will prevent submission of course sections with dates outside of the university standard begin and end dates, even if the course may have been approved in the past. Please see the Academic Calendar for verification of standard session dates. Classroom Scheduling encourages departments to allow plenty of time for submission for any off-cycle section.
Please visit the MAUI Help Off-Cycle Section webpage for more information.
Professional schools that follow a collegiate context calendar have had a "Course Offerings Collegiate Calendar" or "Clinical Experience" category applied by Classroom Scheduling, which allows submission of sections with dates outside the standard academic calendar. However, it is essential to comply with the respective collegiate context calendar dates; otherwise, the department will receive returned course sections that require correction.
Impact to Grading
Course sections that have assignments and exams scheduled outside the standard session dates will not be adjusted in Planner to accommodate grading. Therefore, all grades must be submitted by the deadline indicated in MyCourses in MAUI. We advise instructors to review their course dates on MyUI or review their course dates on the Office of the Registrar website before the start of the session and contact Reg-MAUI-Support with questions regarding grade reporting.
Course Date Compliance
MAUI date validation aims to ensure compliance with Course Offering and Department of Education Financial Aid regulations, thereby reducing the risk of incurring fines while maintaining the university's eligibility for Title IV programs.
We understand that standard session date compliance may require some adjustments, and we are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email Registrar Offerings Compliance, or call Char Maher (319) 335-0221 or Renee Houser (319) 335-1202.
We appreciate your support as we work to comply with Department of Education regulations.
Thank you!
