Registration setup is a process driven by an academic calendar date which assigns early registration times for students, and posts those day/time assignments on MyUI.

If an Academic Session has not yet been created as a part of the Session Creation process, it will occur during Registration Setup.

• Often triggers a student to make an appointment to visit with an advisor.  However, students can really begin meeting with them once their session has been created.  
• Students tend to begin reviewing their registration holds at this time. – Technically, these are available as soon as AcademicSessionCreation is ran, holds are applied, and courses are published to MyUI.  This could be because of course publication, or they are out reviewing their day/time assignment. 

• Summer: 7th week of previous spring semester 
• Fall: 12th week of the previous spring semester 
• Winter/Spring: 12th week of the previous fall semester

• Create sessions when batch process runs.  Must be eligible to create academic session. Student must have a primary pos for assignment session. It will not create if degree application on file and no admission on file for day & time assignment session.  

Winter/Spring are set-up at the same time 

Summer set-up is prior to Fall 

Eligible to return without going back through Admissions (like semester to like semester) 

• Assigned day & time when batch process runs.  Must be eligible to return for day & time assignment session.  Student must have a primary pos for assignment session.  It will not assign day & time if degree application on file and no admission on file for day & time assignment session. 

If the student was readmitted prior to session creation, an academic session will be created for the session in which they’ve been admitted. 

If the student was readmitted after session creation, an academic session will be created when Registration Setup runs. The sync process will only set-up new admits after Registration Set-up has run for student’s admitted session.

If the student was readmitted prior to registration day/time assignment, a day/time is assigned when the job is run. 

If the student was readmitted after registration day/time assignment, we assign day/times for their admitted session only during the admission sync process. 

Session created for the admit session only (if student isn't required to go through Orientation) 

• Session creation is written to match on admission session only.  Spring admits will only get a spring session created.  Winter admits are rare but looks like they would only get winter session. 

• Summer/fall: Summer admits will only have summer session created, not fall. Fall admits will have session created during day/time assignments posting or prior to their orientation. 

Orientation Students: Academic Session for admit session is created at the time Pre-Orientation program runs and they are enrolled in Success at Iowa. Summer admits held to OR get their fall session created when OR day/time assignment is run. 

Admitted prior to session set up, day & time assignment posted for session of admission but not future session.  Summer admit prior to Fall day & time assignments would only receive a Summer day & time. 

Admitted after setup for a session, the Admission sync process assigns early registration days & times. 

• Students held to OR and assigned in a special job are set up for both Summer and Fall.  Non-OR students will get day/time assignment for their admit session only. Winter and Spring are assigned together.
