Required Course Section Components - Initial Section Submission
The following course components must be present within a course section before it is submitted through workflow for a given session. Classroom Scheduling reviews the information submitted for each section and will reach out to departments for clarification, if needed, or will return the course section back to the department for corrections.
Credit/Contact Hours
Information regarding credit hour calculations and requirements.
Optimum Enrollment
Information and instructions regarding setup and updates to optimum enrollment for a course.
Time/Location (Meeting Pattern)
Instructions on how to enter information in the Time/Location field for course sections in MAUI Offerings Planner to accurately represent meeting pattern(s).
Delivery Mode
Delivery Modes are used by departments to provide information regarding how a course will function. Provided are definitions and information regarding delivery modes for course sections.
Section Type
Section type is the mode of instruction for a section. Provided are the available section types a department can utilize.
Management Type
Management type indicates the section type being offered in MAUI Planner. Management type can affect tuition and fees, etc.; examples include Academic Unit Course, Distance and Online Education, MBA, etc. Full Management Type list provided in the link.
Session Information
The semester or session during which the course section is offered. Replicated sections will have a default session listed. Off-cycle courses will have specific override dates which need to be reviewed/updated.
Required Course Components - Prior to Course Start
The following course section components must be provided one month prior to the course start date. The information can be present when a section is initially submitted for approval, but it does not need to be. Please visit each area for instructions and deadlines.
Instructors
Departments must enter instructor information for their course sections. This information is entered with the Offerings Planner area of MAUI.
Syllabus (College Dependent)
Instructions for uploading a course syllabus to MAUI, as well as syllabus policy and reporting tools to identify syllabus status by college and course.
Textbooks & Resources
Departments must report textbook and resource requirements no less than 30 days prior to the start of a semester.
Additional Course Section Components
Additional course section components which, when utilized, help provide supplemental information about the course. Also included are tools departments can use to manage course enrollment.
Course Restrictions
A restriction is used to limit the type of student enrolling in a section. Restrictions are requested by departments via MAUI workflow and are approved by the Office of the Registrar.
Course Waitlists
A waitlist is a list of students waiting to enroll in a course section. Departments can utilize the waitlist panel in MAUI to manage course section enrollment.
Delivery Tools
Departments can select specific delivery tools to identify how instruction is delivered.
MyUI Course/Section Text Management
Administrators have the ability to add information about a course or a section to supplement the General Catalog Description via the MyUI Course and MyUI Section Information areas in Offerings Planner.
Seat Reservations
A seat reservation holds a set number of seats within a course section for a specific population of students. Seat reservations are based on a restriction, which can be separate from the overall section restriction.
Section Subtitles
Section subtitles can be added to course sections in Offerings Planner when a department wishes to provide more specific information about the course section's content.
